Stagecoach London’s £122,000 for Macmillan

A depot centenary open day has added over £16,000 to the money raised by Stagecoach for the renowned cancer support charity, reports Nick Larkin

Proceeds from an open day celebrating the centenary of Barking Bus Garage have boosted the amount raised by Stagecoach London for Macmillan Cancer Support to £122,000 since 2018. The Barking event on 23 March brought in £16,617, from an admission charges plus sales of memorabilia, branded merchandise, refreshments and a programme. Organiser, Stagecoach London’s commercial planning manager Kevin Cooper said: “We’re absolutely delighted at how the event went. Everyone had a good time.“

There were also displays of vehicle types which had served at the garage and in some cases the actual buses, not least EGO 426, the London Bus Museum’s 1937 AEC Regent STL with LPTB bodywork. At the other end of the age scale was LF73 DYC, an MCV-bodied Volvo BZL electric bus on show prior to entering service with Stagecoach London.
