Stagecoach has made a £1.6 million investment in new buses for the borough of Torfaen, just north of Newport in South Wales, with nine Optare Solos joining the fleet. The new Euro VI Slimline Solos feature e-leather seats and are equipped with audio-visual next stop announcements, USB charging points and tap-on, tap-off payment devices. The buses will operate from Stagecoach’s depot in Cwmbran.

To celebrate the arrival of the new buses, Stagecoach will be showcasing a vehicle in Cwmbran’s Gwent Square on Wednesday 22 May, with the local Stagecoach team including Stagecoach South Wales Managing Director Martin Gibbon there to to welcome people on board.

Martin said: “The new, fleet of buses represents a huge investment by Stagecoach within Torfaen and highlights our commitment to improving bus travel in the region. We hope the new buses will encourage more people to use public transport as a sustainable travel option whilst helping reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in our community.”
