An investment of £7 million has been made in building and equipping a new ‘state of the art’ green depot in Cwmbran. Richard Sharman takes a look behind the scenes
Depot facilities play an important part of any coach or bus operation, so when it was time for Stagecoach South Wales to start planning a move from its former Red & White Services depot located in Cwmbran and built in 1963 for £73,000, it was going to set the standard for future Stagecoach depots going forward. With a focus on staff needs and environmental responsibilities, and a chance to create a new depot that was as people friendly and green as possible, and which provides a great working environment with a light and airy atmosphere, the impact on the environment was a key consideration in design. Stagecoach sourced the very latest equipment to reduce the impact on the environment and providing the best technology to enhance service delivery for customers.
