Stagecoach South West is inviting the local community to its Exeter bus depot, on Sunday 6 October from 1000 to 1600hrs, to find out more about how the busiest depot in the region operates.
The special event will give members of the public the chance to learn more about the bus operations and the opportunity to take part in a guided tour, and enjoy vintage games and giveaways. There will also be an array of old and new vehicles on display, including a number of vintage vehicles exhibited by the Devon General Society. The Centenary Exhibition bus will be on display, featuring memories of life on the buses over the last 100 years, and there will also be a number of vintage games and promotional stalls with giveaways and information about local services.
Another highlight will be the guided tour around the bus depot; giving visitors the chance to see behind the scenes in the Garage and Control Office. There will also be a rare opportunity to ride through the bus wash on a Gold bus.
Bob Dennison, Stagecoach South West Managing Director, said: “We’re really looking forward to opening our doors on Sunday 6 October. We have a fun-filled day planned for people of all ages and the day will provide a fascinating insight into what goes on behind the scenes.”
Those interested in attending can find out more and register for free on the Eventbrite page.
Stagecoach South West will be running a special vintage shuttle service throughout the day with a regular and direct service running between Sowton Park and Ride and the Matford depot. A shuttle service will also connect visitors travelling from the City Centre to the Matford depot. Please note there will be no parking available at the event.
