The new, modernised Stagecoach uniform, created by IncorporateWear, has won an industry award

Uniform specialist IncorporateWear (ICW) is celebrating after winning an industry award for its uniform re-design for Stagecoach. ICW won the Aviation & Passenger Transport Design category for creating and delivering a completely new look for Stagecoach at the 2023 Professional Clothing Industry Association Worldwide (PCiAW) awards.

The West Midlands-based company, which has worked with Stagecoach since 2003, secured the contract to deliver a complete uniform revamp after an extensive competitive tendering process. The brief was to bring Stagecoach’s ‘Proud To Serve’ corporate rebrand to life through the creation of a modern, top to toe wardrobe for its 19,000 bus, coach and tram drivers and inspectors.

ICW design teams worked with Stagecoach management and colleagues through a series of detailed focus groups and extensive wearer trials to ensure the re-design reflected the new brand and delivered on fashion, fit, comfort and functionality. Account Manager Ian Marvin said: “We worked very closely with Stagecoach who really bought into a process which has created a modern, industry leading and award-winning uniform design which the workforce really love.”

The new Stagecoach layered wardrobe uses high quality, breathable and sustainably sourced fabric and includes shirts, skirts, Chino trousers, ‘sholo’ shirts, a coat, jumper, jacket and backpack, plus hats and scarves, delivered through a dedicated online ordering portal providing staff with freedom of choice to select the uniform mix that is right for them.

Central Operations Support Director for Stagecoach Adam Moss said: “We are pleased to see the new driver uniform refresh and roll-out project receive recognition as a collaborative and effective project in these industry awards. The project was supported brilliantly by IncorporateWear in a true partnership style and we are very happy with the refreshed modern look and our employees are enjoying the excellent design and quality of the uniforms.”

Edward Grigg is Managing Director of ICW. He said: “We are design-led thinkers and passionate problem-solvers and are so pleased to be recognised by the PCiAW for the striking new Stagecoach uniform. Stagecoach, a long-term customer of ours, worked closely with our design and product development team to produce the award-winning uniform and we are all really happy with the results, so to pick up an award too is a lovely bonus.”

Speaking about its new online digital portals, Edward added: “The Group investment programme is a real statement of intent to the market and a promise of industry-best excellence to our customers. It means we can provide unrivalled managed contract solutions to customers across the entire workwear life-cycle, from designing and sourcing products to their manufacture, distribution and even end-of-product-life processing.”
