The award-winning Skegness Seasiders bus service in Skegness has reported a bumper number of family passengers climbing on board this summer, the Skegness Standard has reported.

Stagecoach, which operates the service, announced that its latest figures show the number of family tickets sold has increased by 5.4% since July and August 2014.

The Seasiders service features a family of nine open-top character buses: Rocky, Shelly, Candy, Pierre, Salty, Sandy, Hattie, Rolly and Milly.

From late March to early November, Stagecoach runs a service with the buses for residents and visitors to the resort.

Jon Donnelly, Commercial Manager at Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “I am pleased to announce that we have had another successful season with the Skegness Seasiders.

“We have seen a great rise in the number of passengers using the buses and I’m sure this will continue next year.

“The Seasiders offer a pleasurable travel experience while serving the town of Skegness, so it comes as no surprise that they are so popular.”

The launch of the Seasiders last year led to record passenger numbers and the service winning the UK Bus Awards Marketing Initiative of the Year.

Last year’s revamp of the fleet included new livery, refurbished seats and interiors.

The buses will be in service until November 1.
