Over the mostly sunny if somewhat chilly weekend of 12 and 13 April, the UK Coach Rally returned to Blackpool. This year marked the 69th time the event has been held, having moved to Blackpool following spells in Brighton, Peterborough and Alton Towers, with organisers hoping that next year’s 70th event will be even bigger and better.

Out of a maximum of 55 entries permitted, 44 coaches attended the event on the Promenade, ranging in size from Mercedes-Benz Sprinters to tri-axle giants, representing the best of the best from across the country. Operators attended from as far afield as Edinburgh and Rhu, in Argyll & Bute, and the south coast of England. Many were regular attendees, with Lothian Motorcoaches, Blakes and Heathside being among the furthest-travelled regulars.
As always, there was also a trade presence, though notably there were one or two names missing, MAN/Neoplan being the obvious one, whilst it would have been easy to overlook the very anonymous presence of Daimler Buses UK’s white Tourismo.
