Switch Mobility is to supply a fleet of 12 Metrocity electric buses to London operator Tower Transit. The fleet of Metrocitys will be deployed on route 339, operating out of Lea Interchange and running between Shadwell and Leytonstone. It will be the first full electric bus route run out of Lea Interchange.

Tower Transit will be the first customer for the updated 9.4m Metrocity. Delivery of the vehicles is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2023. Switch said the contract further reinforces its position as a global technology leader, providing net zero carbon commercial mobility products and solutions that create outstanding value for all stakeholders. Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Andy Palmer commented: “Switch is proud to supply the most efficient electric buses in the UK and we are delighted to be working with Tower Transit to electrify route 339. Our Metrocity product is perfectly suited to the requirements of London’s roads and passengers on this route will soon be able to travel knowing that their journey will be carbon neutral, supporting a greener planet.”
