Transport for London Chief Operating Officer Claire Mann and Director of Buses Lorna Murphy headed to Ballymena recently to see the Capital’s new buses in build

Wrightbus recently welcomed Transport for London Chief Operating Officer Claire Mann and Director of Buses Lorna Murphy to its Northern Irish factory to share an update on the progress and development taking place across the business. CEO Jean-Marc Gales hosted the visit alongside members of the company’s senior team including Engineering Director Robert Best, Director of UK & International Sales John McLeister, AllServiceOne Managing Director Jon Eardley and HydraB Director of Business Development Tom Greenshields.

Jean-Marc lead the tour around our factory site, giving the guests a detailed look at the manufacturing processes behind its zero-emission buses, many of which enter service with Transport for London. On show in the finishing end of our factory were a number of single- and double-deck Electroliners for Metroline, part of a recent order that will soon be heading to London to enter service. These buses feature the key elements of the 2024 TfL bus safety standard, which sets standards for pedestrian and cyclist safety with soft crash front zones, better visibility with enhanced vision and blind spot warning and improved passenger safety standards.

Jean-Marc said of the visit: “It was an honour to welcome Claire and Lorna to our factory. Wrightbus have a long history with Transport for London and these visits are an excellent opportunity for us to provide updates and insights into the work we are currently doing together as well as future innovations. Knowledge sharing on a face to face basis is a critical element in any partnership, so this was an invaluable part of the day. I was extremely proud to show Claire and Lorna our manufacturing processes from chassis build right through to vehicle sign-off, where they met many of our fantastic team whose expertise and dedication is setting standards across the globe.”
