The Yutong E12 was trialled on the Green Line 703 service for two weeks

Slough Borough Council’s transport team partnered with Reading Buses-owned Thames Valley Buses to trial the first full-electric bus along the Green Line 703 service. The single-decker Yutong E12, operated from Slough to Heathrow Airport and between Windsor, Legoland and Bracknell. The two-week trial finished on 27 July. The electric bus, which received positive feedback from users via social media, acted as one of the four vehicles operating on the 703 route daily.

For the purposes of the trial, a small fuel-powered generator was temporarily installed alongside Slough bus station to charge the bus overnight, but in regular mainstream operation the bus would be charged by a rapid electric vehicle (EV) charger connected directly to the power grid.
