…the future’s orange. Or rather, Strathclyde red, as Bright Bus Tours launches in Edinburgh. After much speculation, Jim McWilliam reports on the unveiling of this new entrant to the sightseeing market
As the summer heated up and areas of southern Europe were expecting temperatures to reach 40 degrees, the city of Edinburgh was enjoying blue skies, sun, and a slightly more manageable – but nonetheless pleasant – 21 degrees. Unsurprisingly, the city centre was busy, full of locals and tourists alike, taking full advantage of the cloudless sky. On Waterloo Place, with Edinburgh’s Nelson Monument standing tall atop Calton Hill in the background, was an unmissable brightly coloured open-top bus attracting attention from passing tourists. Nothing unusual there you might think, Lothian’s well-known yellow, blue, green and red sightseeing buses pass this way regularly.
