As part of a project by West Berkshire Council named Newbury Vision 2026, the town opened the Wharf bus interchange on Sunday 2 October.
The original bus station on Market Street closed permanently on Saturday 1 December to make way for 232 new houses.
Work began on the new bus interchange, which is to be known as the Wharf, on the 27 April and is situated on the location of the former coach and car park next to the town’s library.
Coach Operators should note that three parking bays at the rear of the Wharf have been reserved for visiting coaches, but waiting is restricted to 90 minutes between 0400 and 1800hrs Monday to Saturday and the cost will be £4, outside of these hours the cost will be £3 for three hours and £6 for more than three hours.
Passengers are not permitted to board or alight from the lay over bays, Bay E is dedicated to coach drop off and pick up.
Bay F is also designated for this purpose but is shared with National Express departures which take priority.
