Ticketer says it has completed a successful roll-out of tap-off readers (TORs) on buses across Lancashire, in partnership with Lancashire County Council (LCC). A Ticketer customer since 2018, LCC’s roll-out was funded through the county’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) grant with TORs now installed on services operated by Archway Travel, Holmeswood Coaches, Pilkington Bus, Charlton Minicoaches, Tyrers Coaches, Vision Bus, and Transpora Blackpool.
The rollout supports LCC’s commitment to improving local bus services through Enhanced Partnerships and BSIP funding, with a strong focus on increasing patronage and improving the passenger experience. Principal Transport Officer at Lancashire County Council Ian Barratt commented: “This roll-out is a significant step forward in enhancing the passenger experience and getting more people to use bus travel in
the region. Ticketer tap-off readers play a key role in simplifying the ticketing experience whilst removing barriers to travel. We look forward to seeing the positive impact that the technology has across our services.” Ticketer Chief Commercial & Operations Officer Adam Toone added: “We’re delighted to have partnered with Lancashire County Council on TOR delivery for the region. This multi-layered partnership across Ticketer, Lancashire CC and the participating operators highlights how close collaboration, technology and local investment can come together to deliver real benefits for passengers. “By speeding up boarding and simplifying contactless payments, the Ticketer TORs will help make travel more accessible, reduce dwell times, and support the overall attractiveness of bus services in the region.”
