Sister companies, Angela Coaches and Angela Holidays, respectively managed by Robert Pressley and his sister Paula Roe, have anniversaries to celebrate in 2018. Angela Coaches is 65 years old while Angela Holidays is 50. The third generation of the Pressley family to be involved in coaching, they talk to Andy Izatt about the challenges of running their respective operations and their hopes for the future
“We have two new coaches coming in 2018,” explained Robert Pressley, Managing Director of Southampton-based Angela Coaches. “Our second VDL Futura II is due around April and we’ve also ordered the first UK Beulas Midi Cygnus on a VDL SB4000 for summer delivery. That will probably be a 34-seater, but we’re still in the early stages of finalising its specification. We have two Beulas MAN 34-seaters at the moment and the oldest will go in part exchange.
“The arrival of our Neoplan Starliner 2 five years ago coincided with our 60th anniversary and we gave it a livery to reflect that. We’re planning to do something special to mark 65 years on the new Futura, but nothing has been decided yet. We’re discussing what we could do with Moseley in the South at the moment.
“Our 11-strong fleet includes five full-size coaches. We bought our first 12.2m Futura II in 2017 and the investment we’re making this year means we’re ahead of the game when it comes to the low emission zones that are being introduced. We’re also exploring how we might upgrade the emission abatement equipment of some of our existing vehicles.[…]
