Tower Transit Group has purchased Perivale-based The Impact Group plc, which also has a depot in Beddington Lane, Croydon. The firm’s O-licence is for 123 vehicles at Perivale and 29 at Croydon.

Impact is to continue as an independent operation from Tower Transit Operations under the direction of Tower Transit Development Director Charlie Beaumont. Much of its work is local authority based using mini and midi size vehicles, many of them wheelchair accessible. There’s also a coach hire business and excursion programme. Garage services are offered and there’s a driving school and training centre.

The Impact Group began in 1969 when proprietor Tony Hill formed a driving school. It took on its first bus contract using a minibus taking children to nursery school in 1974. Armchair Coaches yard in Brentford was taken over in 1993, but in 2000 it was decided to relocate the business to a new entirely self contained property in Perivale.
