The operator has worked with North Yorkshire Council to introduce a new all-day £1 fare for young people in the county
Transdev has launched a new £1 fare for young people in North Yorkshire.
The company has worked with North Yorkshire Council to offer under 19s reduced-price travel at any time, anywhere in the county on its buses, which reach from Skipton in the west to Scarborough in the east.
The company says it hopes the discount will help make travel more affordable and accessible for young people, many of whom are unable to afford the cost of driving lessons or running and insuring a car. Transdev’s Commercial Director Paul Turner said: “The new £1 fares apply to any one-way journey on our buses which is wholly within North Yorkshire – for example, Grassington to Skipton, Ripon to Harrogate or Malton to Pickering – and also to journeys between North Yorkshire and the City of York.
“Young people can buy their £1 tickets in the usual way from our drivers, using cash or contactless payment. Dedicated school buses aren’t included, but every other route on our networks in North Yorkshire and York itself are part of this scheme.
“We hope this low fare will help young people to get out and about by bus this Autumn and enjoy all that North Yorkshire and York have to offer.”
Transdev operators participating in the cheme are Coastliner, The Harrogate Bus Company and The Keighley Bus Company.
