Transdev has increased the number of evening services operating at two of its Blazefield subsidiary companies. In the Blackburn and Preston area, The Blackburn Bus Company is to introduce new later evening journeys on its ‘Hotline’-branded route six nights a week.
The service currently offers late evening buses in both directions between Blackburn and Preston on Friday and Saturday nights, but Transdev says it is working with Lancashire County Council to introduce the same journeys every evening except Sundays.
The Blackburn Bus Company’s General Manager Frank Stanisauskis said: “Lancashire’s evening economy continues to grow throughout the week, and so we’re working with Lancashire County Council to bring our customers the same level of late evening services between Blackburn and Preston right through from Monday to Saturday.
Elsewhere in Lancashire, sister company Rosso is also working with the county council to add extra trips serving Blackburn, Rawtenstall and Burnley six nights a week on its busy Irwell Line 481 service between Blackburn and Rawtenstall, and Irwell Line 483 linking Rawtenstall with Burnley, both of which currently finish in mid-evening.
Rosso General Manager Tony Fiocca said: “These extra evening journeys will make travel easier and safer for communities across East Lancashire. We’ve teamed up with Lancashire County Council to introduce these improvements which will make our buses the ideal choice for an evening out at our area’s many leisure attractions – and with any journey after 7pm priced at just £1, with support from Lancashire’s £8.5 million Bus Service Improvement Plan.”
