Transmach has delivered a fleetwide upgrade to its ticketing systems
for LibertyBus. TRANSMACH

The Tower Transit Group has selected TransMach’s TM700 modular ETM for use on its recently-renewed LibertyBus services across Jersey, taking TransMach into the Channel Islands for the first time. In a major installation project and ticketing system upgrade, TransMach has supplied more than 80 of its latest-generation Android-based ticket machines for fitting to LibertyBus’ fleet, alongside enabling a new public POS (Point of Sale) terminal for the LibertyBus travel outlet at the island’s Liberation bus station in St Helier.

As well as providing the hardware, TransMach was engaged by Tower Transit to deliver a fully managed SaaS (Software as a Service) cloud-based back-office system for the operator, using existing TransXchange files and fare data, as well as the integration of almost 100 smartcard products. This also ensures the bus station shop can retail, update and add smartcards, which then uploads data to the back-office reporting system for reconciliation.
Tower Transit’s Operations Director Sam Greaves commented: “With TransMach’s technical support in London and on-site assistance in Jersey, we switched over our system seamlessly. Passengers noticed the different ETM and the faster speed of transactions, which makes boarding much quicker. It’s been a pleasure to work with the team at TransMach to roll out its class-leading TM700 machines and our drivers and travel shop staff have adapted to the new ETM quickly, following some in-depth training and testing prior to deployment.

“We really welcomed TransMach’s hands-on approach, which included working with our drivers to answer any questions and give practical help and advice, which has cemented our confidence in the system. It’s been a great team effort.”

Commenting on its partnership with Tower Transit and LibertyBus, TransMach’s Sales Account Manager Jason Stevens-Read, who supervised the project in Jersey, added: “We are delighted to expand TransMach’s service into the Channel Islands with LibertyBus as our launch customer. We recognise that customers really value our personal touch and bespoke client-led approach to every project, so it’s been a pleasure working with Sam and his team
to deliver a seamless transition of both the ETM infrastructure and cloud-based management system. By working together on location and involving the drivers and retail staff, the real-time feedback was invaluable in ensuring that we could deploy on schedule with no adverse impact on services.”
