Following the launch of its 5G-enabled TM700 ETM at the beginning of 2025, ticketing solutions and transport software specialist TransMach is deploying a range of new features this summer, aimed at enhancing driver and vehicle safety and operational efficiency. In what it believes is a first for the coach and bus sector, TransMach says its Real-Time Headway Management system enables effective fleet co-ordination by displaying time-based distance between vehicles (in minutes) on the ETM, which allows drivers to maintain service gaps and manage indicative passenger loads. Additionally, TransMach’s punctuality control interface has an upgraded Stop & Go indicator, which assists drivers in maintaining schedule adherence by notifying them of the wait time at a specific stop and when they are able to depart, based on the published timetable. As well as providing service punctuality reports, drivers and services can be ranked according to their punctuality performance, TransMach says.

A new sat-nav style capability which uses polygon-based mapping with geo-fencing configuration has also been developed by TransMach’s software team, to assist new drivers and those that haven’t driven on a specific route for some time. The functionality can also act as an advance warning system for low bridges and road restrictions, with configurable alert timing to allow the driver to take corrective action following visual and audible alerts from the ETM.

Additionally, to enhance communication between drivers and operations team, TransMach has introduced enhanced VOIP voice call functionality via the TM700’s 5G connectivity, which eliminates the need for additional external radio devices. A panic button for driver safety, which uploads audio and video footage from the vehicle, is also integrated into the machine. Commenting on the launch of its latest upgrades to the TM700 ETM, TransMach Director Minesh Vandra said: “TransMach is focused on adding value to operators without adding cost and our latest innovations can be integrated as part of our standard customer agreement. We have been delighted at the response to the launch of our TM700 ETM and its 5G capability has facilitated a number of extra features to assist and protect drivers and benefit operators. As well as supplying and supporting the installation of the ETM units, TransMach’s responsive SaaS (Software as a Service) cloud-based back-office system has helped deliver significant efficiencies to operators.”
