The North East operator will close at the end of the year as a result of the owners retiring
Established in 1987, Travelsure Coaches is based in Northumberland and operates coaches ranging from 18 to 70 seats, alongside a taxi business for smaller vehicles. In a statement online, the company said: “We have made the decision as a family to close our business at the end of the year. This decision has been made solely on the needs of our family as Barrie and Karen wish to retire.
“We have operated our holiday and day trip programme since 1987 and would like to thank the fantastic passengers, staff and suppliers we have met and worked with throughout the years. We hope you all have some happy memories of Travelsure. We would also like to thank the residents of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders who have travelled on our services.
“We will continue to operate local services, school contracts and private hire till the end of the year. All the holidays and day trips within our 2023 brochure will go ahead as planned.”
Alongside private hire and holidays, the company also operates a small fleet of service buses on local work. Routes 260, 236, 32 and 34 have already passed to Borders Buses, and the company will continue to operate its Berwick-Alnwick service 418/X18 until the end of the year.
