The vehicles have been specifically configured for use on the council’s Local Link route. All three feature wheelchair access. The Stratas have a capacity to carry up to 21 passengers at a time.

Anthony Smith, Fleet Manager at Redcar and Cleveland Council, said: “The Council is delighted with the new buses and we are really pleased with the quality of build on the Strata.

“The additional advantage of lower running costs is an important benefit for us.

“It has been a pleasure dealing with the knowledgeable, professional and friendly team at Mellor Coachcraft, which has made the whole purchasing process smooth and trouble free from the specification stage right through to delivery.”

For additional safety and security, the buses have been equipped with 360° CCTV and a reversing rear view camera with warning beeper.
