The UK Coach Operators’ Association (UKCOA) has urged operators to respond to and oppose Oxfordshire County Council’s proposed Traffic Regulation Orders that will restrict coach access in Burford. The changes, which include banning coaches over 12 metres in length from the town’s Priory Lane and removing coach parking facilities, will have a devastating impact on the coach industry, local businesses, and the wider community, the UKCOA says, restricting group tourism in Burford, as well as reducing demand for coach services.

The UKCOA adds that the move could harm local businesses, threaten jobs and the area’s economy, increase car traffic, congestion, and environmental harm, while creating operational challenges for coach operators, as well as setting a dangerous precedent for similar restrictions elsewhere.

“We need your voice to ensure the Council understands the serious consequences of these changes,” the Association says, advising operators to contact [email protected] to raise their concerns. The deadline for objections is Friday 3 January 2025.

“We strongly encourage all UKCOA members to submit their objections and stand united against these harmful proposals. By acting collectively, we can make a real difference and protect access for coaches in Burford, ensuring the continued success of your business and our industry.”
