UrbanThings has rolled out its smart ticketing platform, Ticketless, to the public in partnership with Ipswich Buses, following a successful trial.
The app, which provides real-time information and m-ticketing via QR code validation, is now live on the Ipswich Buses fleet. It allows passengers to purchase tickets on their smartphones – including period passes – which they then scan upon boarding to validate.
Ipswich Buses will also gain access to invaluable data such as live passenger metrics and detailed reporting that identifies under and over-served routes.
UrbanThings is a London-based technology company specialising in intelligent mobility, and running a range of smart ticketing platforms across Europe. Best known for being the team behind UK Bus Checker, its latest product Ticketless combines mobile ticketing for passengers, with a cloud-based backend reporting system.
Carl Partridge, CEO of UrbanThings, said: “We’re thrilled to be delivering an innovative new passenger app to Ipswich Buses. Our Ticketless solution delivers an outstanding passenger experience, putting real-time bus information and m-Ticketing in one place. We’re looking forward to a continued partnership.”
Steve Bryce, General Manager of Ipswich Buses added: “Our company had been looking to develop and launch our own m-ticketing and journey planning app for some time. We are always looking for new ideas to attract and retain customers so having our own app was the next natural step after successfully launching contactless payments.
“It was important to Ipswich Buses that our app was white labelled and was not a generic product. When we met Carl and his team they were very accommodating and showed a genuine interest in our business and our requirements. They have worked seamlessly with our own team to develop and launch the app.”
