The day was organised by the Hispanic Student Association after members began to feel that drivers were getting overlooked and weren’t recognised enough for the work they do.

The inaugural event took place in 2019, but for this year’s event the association joined forces with the Asian American Student Organisation and Islam on Campus to grow the event further.

Stephanie Beltran, Vice President of the university’s Hispanic Student Association, told the station: “I think it’s a very fun event, just seeing the bus drivers and making them happy is something good and something that we should take into consideration every day in thanking our bus drivers.”
