VDL Bus & Coach has announced it is introducing a new 10.6m variant of its popular Futura coach – although it remains to be seen whether the vehicle will be available for the UK market.
Asked by CBW about the new model, Karl Moseley, Managing Director, Moseley (PCV) Ltd. replied: “We remain as enthusiastic as ever about VDL’s Futura range, but discussions are currently on-going as to whether the 10.6m variant will be offered in the UK market.”
Known as the FHD2-106, the new variant is to make its industry debut at the forthcoming IAA trade show in Hanover, Germany, which runs between September 22 and 29. VDL said it is targeting the VIP segment and smaller groups which want to travel in exceptional luxury and comfort.
In common with other Futura models, the FHD2-106 has a completely flat floor. VDL has described the 4.7 cubic metres of luggage space as ‘extremely ample in proportion to the length of the coach.’
The maximum seating configuration is 41/43+1+1, but there are a wealth of possibilities for configuring the coach entirely in line with the individual preferences of operators. The coach is available as with 2+1 configuration, face-to-face seating and a wide range of options for the furniture, kitchens and entertainment systems.
