Volkswagen has secured patents for several new electric vehicles, including an electric minibus, as part of a new zero-emission line-up, Autocar reported.
The minibus is similar to a VW electric concept vehicle, the Budd-e, which was first shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.
While the vehicle was shown to promote the manufacturer’s Modular Electric Toolkit, or MEB platform, a scalable base on which all of the new electric vehicles will be based, the Budd-e is unlikely to go into production itself.
