MEXICO: Volvo Buses has launched its new Volvo 7800 Electric in Mexico, the first electric articulated and bi-articulated bus manufactured in the country. Built on Volvo’s global BZR platform, the manufacturer says it will evolve bus rapid transit systems in Mexico, creating a more efficient and sustainable people transport system.

“We are accelerating the transformation to sustainable and efficient transport solutions to further improve the public transport system in Mexican cities. This will not only have a positive effect for the operators and the passengers, but it will also improve the quality of life for citizens in cities,” said Rafael Kisel, President of Volvo Group Mexico.

“With the launch of the new Volvo 7800 Electric here in Mexico, we are taking a solid step in our transition towards electromobility in the country, ensuring cleaner, safer, and more sustainable and reliable transport solutions for the BRT systems.”
The bi-articulated model measures 25.6 metres with a capacity of up to 300 passengers, whilst the articulated model will carry up to 191.

Both models have a charging capacity of 250kWh and will be equipped with Volvo Buses’ latest active safety systems.
Both models will be manufactured in Volvo Buses’ plant in Mexico. The first buses are expected to be delivered during 2026.
