Coach drivers are being warned to expect delays overnight on the A49 Welsh Marches route in South Shropshire. From now until January 19, 2018 the popular coach artery will see full and partial carriageway closures between 2000hrs and 0600hrs.
Shropshire Council said in a statement: “The schemes are located on the A49 to the south of Shrewsbury and to the north of Ludlow, between Church Stretton and Wistanstow. The project consists of remediation works to the A49 highway drainage network, in order to reduce the potential for flooding of the carriageway. They will be broken down as follows: A49 Church Stretton to Little Stretton; A49 Marshbrook to Little Stretton; A49 Felhampton; and A49 Wistanstow. The majority of works will be carried out using traffic signal control overnight. We will however, need to implement some full carriageway closures for works that involve excavation and replacement of collapsed pipework. Signed diversions will be in place.”
