Johnny and Bev.

Millions of TV viewers have been watching comedian and actor Johnny Vegas convert his traditional Maltese bus as part of a new business. Carry on Glamping covers Johnny and assistant Bev Dixon’s often fraught efforts to set up the new venture, which sees the bus and other vehicles converted to luxury accommodation.

Johnny admits that alcohol may have had an influence in his buying the Maltese bus on eBay. One of the island’s legendary ‘bitsa’ vehicles, the bus, which Johnny has christened Patricia, features Bedford chassis and suspension components but was new in 1972 with a Deutz engine.

Johnny said: “I do love vintage stuff, we’ve got an amazing transport museum in St Helens.” The story, its many disasters and of course, the effects of Covid-19 on the business are the subject of the four-part series. See all episodes on the All 4 catch-up site.
