Do you ever get that feeling we have been here before? Well that’s because we probably have, and depending how long you’ve been an industry professional, or enthusiast, your knowledge could go back five or six decades, or maybe not even one. It is the emotive subject of liveries that we are talking about, and for me it all starts in the deregulation era, having just missed out what some might call the bland days of National Bus Company (NBC) in the early 1970s, where your bus was mostly poppy red or leaf green with a white relief and grey wheels.
Those were much simpler days, but a strict repaint programme always ensured that the fleet looked the best and a simple vehicle transfer between operating companies just required a fleet name and number change; these days things feel more complex.
