Wheely-Safe completes roll-out at Desi Coaches

Harrow-based Desi Coaches has completed the fitting of the latest generation Wheely-Safe technology across its fleet.

The operator has installed Wheely-Safe’s in-motion wheel loss detection system, which combines brake and hub temperature monitoring with an intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), to help it maintain best practice in health & safety and compliance across its business.
Director at Desi Coaches Nilesh Patel explained: “I’d heard about the technology in the media a little while ago and thought it sounded like an excellent product. Then recently I saw that it had been recognised by the DVSA so decided it was time to get it installed.

“We take the safety of our passengers and other road users very seriously. A lot of our work is with local schools, transporting children, and we want to guarantee we are running the safest possible vehicles. To have one simple-to-use system in place that protects us against any issues with the wheel or tyre is just good sense.”

Desi Coaches opted for Wheely-Safe’s external TPMS sensors, which replace the valve cap and auto-pair with an in-cab solar receiver. These are fitted alongside a pair of wheel loss sensors on each wheel. Diagnostic software built into the receiver lets the business know all sensors are working and paired correctly.

The company’s own in-house mechanics fitted the system, following a brief demonstration from Wheely-Safe technicians. “It was very straightforward to install,” added Nilesh. “As well as looking after our own fleet, we do maintenance work for several other operators as well, so naturally we want to be seen to be setting the highest standards across the industry. Not only will this kit improve the safety of our vehicles, it will also ensure our tyres are always running at optimal pressures – helping to keep our fuel costs down and downtime to a minimum.”

Desi Coaches Director Nilesh Patel says the system will help maintain best practice in compliance and health & safety. WHEELY-SAFE
