Women in Bus & Coach says it is proud to announce the launch of its Ambassador Programme, a new initiative celebrating individuals who have made exceptional contributions to advancing gender equity and inclusivity within the bus, coach and community transport industry.
The inaugural Ambassador recognition was awarded to Anne Marie Purcell, Chief Transformation Officer at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), in honour of her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for women in the sector.
The announcement was made at a Women in Bus & Coach parliamentary reception, held on Monday 16 December. The event highlighted the progress Women in Bus & Coach has achieved during its first year while acknowledging the steps still needed to foster gender inclusivity within the bus, coach, and community transport sectors, and brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and advocates to celebrate achievements and set the stage for continued progress.
Women in Bus & Coach Chair Louise Cheeseman said: “The Women in Bus & Coach Ambassador Programme is our way of shining a spotlight on those who champion inclusivity and equity in our industry. Anne Marie Purcell’s dedication to creating a supportive space for women exemplifies the leadership we need to see. We are delighted to recognise her as the first Ambassador in this important initiative.”
Anne Marie commented: “I am deeply honoured to be recognised as the first Women in Bus & Coach Ambassador. Supporting women across the industry is a passion of mine, and I believe fostering an inclusive environment benefits everyone. This programme is a fantastic way to celebrate those making a difference, and I look forward to seeing its impact grow across the sector.”
