Woods Travel of Bognor Regis has been presented with the BRCCI (Bognor Regis Chamber of Commerce and Industry) Business Award for its longstanding contribution to the town during an award ceremony that took place Friday, July 22, with the company’s Managing Director (MD) announcing at the same event that he is retiring.
The new annual business award, the first of its kind, was presented by the President, with attendees including MP Nick Gibb, the Mayor of Bognor Regis, the Chairman of Arun District Council, the Chairman of BRCCI and the Chairman of Bersted Parish Council.
Woods Travel MD, Roger Elsmere, who has recently been awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Johnston Press South Business Awards, a Special Recognition Award at the National Coach Tourism Awards and the Bognor Chamber’s Britten Award (recognition of his lifetimes work which has enhanced the reputation of the town), used this opportunity to announce that he was stepping-down as MD, handing his role onto his two daughters; Tina Shaw-Morton and Kristy Elsmere.
Tina Shaw-Morton, new joint MD, said: “Kristy and I are very proud of what Roger has achieved over his 45 years in business. After nearly 20 years of working alongside him, we feel confident we will be able to maintain and expand on our already successful business and we hope to continue his legacy for another 45 years.”
