Worcestershire County Council has introduced Ticketer’s tap-on,tap-off technology across its bus network, marking a major milestone in its efforts to modernise public transport and make services more user-friendly. The new system offers a streamlined ticketing experience, automatically applying the best value fares whilst egenerating improved data insights to support service planning. It forms part ofthe council’s broader strategy to encourage more residents and visitors to choose the bus by making journeys quicker, simpler, and better connected.

Councillor Karl Perks,Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “We’re committed to making it easier, faster, and more convenient for people to use public transport and tap-on, tap off is a big part of that. This is just the first of many improvements to the ticketing experience planned across Worcestershire. By making travel more convenient and efficient, we hope to encourage more people to choose the bus, whether for commuting, leisure or visiting the region.”Ticketer Chief Commercial and Operations Officer Adam Toone added: “Roll out of tap on,tap-off travel is a major step towards offering a more efficient, flexible, and seamless passenger experience. More and more transport and local authorities are collaborating with us to deploy our technology on-board their bus services as it not only supports the principles of Enhanced Partnerships but can also be funded through Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) grants. We’re excited to see the continued growth of this initiative and the positive impact it will have on passengers, operators and authorities alike.”
