Trandev’s Yorkshire Coastliner will celebrate its 25th birthday this summer.
Yorkshire Coastliner started life in 1990 and will turn a quarter of a century old with two events planned in July.
A Coastliner summer roadshow will be held in York with buses old and new on display to the public, while a Coastliner summer barbecue is being thrown for staff at the company’s Malton depot scheduled for July 18, to thank them for their efforts in delivering the service for 25 years.
Transdev Managing Director, Alex Hornby, said: ‘’Yorkshire Coastliner is one of the nation’s favourite bus routes – and has iconic status amongst travellers and across the industry.
‘’It is a thrill for us all to celebrate 25 years with both our Coastliner team and customers by thanking them for their support over the years.
‘’Coastliner is run by a passionate and dedicated team at our base in Malton who help make the service the success it is. The route continues to be popular for its mixture of city and coastal destinations, and the wonderful scenic views from the top deck of our modern, WiFi-equipped fleet of buses.’’
Coastliner runs daily services from Leeds to Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington.
The celebrations were launched by the company’s longest-serving driver, Charlie Whitesmith, alongside Jon Peckitt, 33, who is the newest recruit.
Alex Hornby added: ‘’It’s only right that Charlie and John – representing our staff of all levels of experience – helped launch our celebrations in our 25th anniversary year.’’
