Delegates will be heading to Portsmouth this week as the YBM conference returns after its Covid-19 pause

The delayed Young Bus Managers Conference which should have taken place in spring 2020, returns this week, marking the return of ‘in-person’ activity for the Young Bus Managers Network (YBMN). The fully-booked event takes place over two days, on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 October.

The keynote speaker on the Thursday morning is Janette Bell, who took over as MD of First Bus at the end of last year, and who will share her views of the industry.

The Conference is being held at the Royal Beach Hotel opposite the South Parade Pier in Southsea and starts with a tour hosted by First and Hampshire County Council, to show delegates the Portsmouth A3 bus priority scheme plus the high-profile Eclipse busway linking Fareham and Gosport, plus a visit to First’s Hoeford depot.

BBC Transport Correspondent for the South Paul Clifton is also among the speakers. Chris Cheek will be providing insights and commentary into industry trends for participants while the last item on the agenda is a view from a different angle, thanks to Keith Greenfield, CEO of Wightlink Ferries.

The next event, in the spring of 2022, is planned to be held in Cardiff.

Transdev CEO Alex Hornby will be part of the ‘Dragens Den’-type panel at this years event. YOUNG BUS MANAGERS NETWORK
