Having delivered its first Yotong coach in 2015, Pelican Bus & Coach has delivered its 1,000th Yutong vehicle in the UK. The bus was part of a batch of 17 E12 dual-door vehicles delivered to Transdev Airport Services over the Christmas period for shuttle services at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5. Fitted with additional luggage racks, they will serve the terminal car parks as well as provide transport for Heathrow staff.
Ian Downie, Head of Yutong UK, commented: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with the Transdev team to create a bespoke specification for its customers. We are delighted to work on such a prestigious contract that will seamlessly transport passengers to and from the airport, in smooth, quiet, zero-emission comfort. It is fitting that the 1,000th bus and coach delivered will be operated at the gateway of the UK.”
Managing Director of Transdev Airport Services Rebecca Mupita added: “We’re thrilled to be introducing the first zero-emission vehicles to our fleet, and in doing so provide an improved journey experience to customers and colleagues using our dedicated transfer services. Being the operator of Yutong UK’s 1,000th vehicle is an extra bonus and is a great way to mark our successful partnership.”
Heathrow’s Head of Services (Transport and Passenger Logistics) Kap Jhuti said: “Our journey to net zero involves looking again the entire airport operation – transitioning our bus fleet to zero emissions is another important step. We’ve committed to cut emissions on the ground by 45% by 2030, working with our partners on projects like this we will continue towards that goal.”
