Daimler Buses is to supply Swiss operator Transports Publics Genevois (TPG, Geneva) with 87 Mercedes?Benz articulated buses. They are to be deployed on TPG’s 305 km long network in the city of Geneva and its outskirts. The company has a workforce of over 1,700 and operates around 320 buses together with 82 trams. The bus fleet consists mainly of Mercedes?Benz buses. Delivery of the vehicles is to begin in September 2011.
Measuring 17.94 m long, the Citaro G can accommodate up to 150 passengers. TPG believes this makes the vehicle ideal for hight frequency routes and peak-time services on main transport routes. Its offers a full low-floor along its entire length, with step free entrances and exits and four wide doors to enable swift boarding and alighting.
In addition to two wheelchairs spaces, the vehicles are fitted with video monitoring equipment.
These examples will be powered by EEV-compliant Mercedes?Benz OM 457 (h)LA engines, rated at 260 kW (354 hp). Safety features include Electronic Brake System (EBS) in conjunction with the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Acceleration Skid Control (ASR). Disc brakes are installed on all wheels and independent front wheel suspension as standard.
