Solaris has unveiled its latest model, the 9-metre low-entry Urbino 9 LE electric. Part of the manufacturer’s 4th generation range, which offers lengths of up to 15 metres in rigid form, the Urbino 9 LE is equipped with a liquid-cooled electric central motor with a peak power output of 220kW, supplied from the manufacturer’s own High Power batteries with a capacity of 350kWh.
The bus can be recharged conventionally using a plug-in connection or via an optional pantograph. The bus has been designed to accommodate Solaris’ standard air-conditioning or a version which uses a heat pump and increases the energy efficiency of the vehicle.
The Urbino 9 LE can carry up to 27 seated passengers, with access through a single leaf front door and twin-leaf centre doors. Depending on specification, the bus has a total capacity of up to 73. It features Solaris’ automatic advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a MirrorEye camera mirror system and Mobileye Shield+ to guard against blind spot accidents.
So far Solaris has signed contracts for 17 of the new bus which will see eight buses make their way to the Italian city of Bolzano, the rest joining Polish operators in the towns of Żyrardów, Cieszyn, and Zawiercie.
