A Yutong E9 electric midibus was tested in Guernsey from 19 to 22 January, with islanders offered a free ride on the Friday, as part of the States of Guernsey’s plans to look at reducing emissions and encourage islanders to choose lower-emission options, reports the BBC.
A spokesperson for the States of Guernsey told the BBC: “The manufacturer states that the electric vehicle can complete over 195 miles on a single charge, with the average daily mileage of a bus in Guernsey being 100 miles.”
Operations Manager for bus operator CT Plus Guernsey Kevin said that the bus would be trialled on all 24 routes that make up the island’s bus network.
