National Express has announced faster journey times between Stansted and London, with customers able to reach the airport in as little as 45 minutes. The operator is also introducing three new stops on its A8 service, calling at Tottenham Hale, Farringdon and Barbican, and Kings Cross St Pancras. The company says the newly enhanced 45-minute service to and from Tottenham Hale will provide customers with faster, reliable transport choices, at great value prices.
National Express is also boosting other services between the capital city and London Stansted Airport, increasing journeys on services between the airport and London by nearly 25% to almost 200 round trips per day.
Commercial Director for National Express UK and Ireland John Boughton said: “In anticipation of a busy summer period, we are thrilled to be providing even faster, better connectivity between London and Stansted Airport this year, with our coaches now as frequent and virtually as fast as rail services – but at a much lower price.
“National Express plays a significant role in supporting London Stansted Airport’s phenomenal growth and their aim of being the leading airport with the highest public transport mode share, providing Stansted flyers with quick, reliable and frequent coach services to and from the capital.
“More and more people are choosing to travel with National Express as a reliable, affordable and sustainable way to get around, and we’re responding by investing in new and improved services while delivering a brilliant customer experience to give savvy customers a relaxing, comfortable journey for their summer getaways.”
Steve Mills, London Stansted Airport’s Head of Landside Operations, added: “London Stansted welcomes the excellent news that National Express is to increase journeys on key coach routes between London and the airport. This increase will improve the choice of cost effective and sustainable travel options for both passengers and airport staff alike, especially with the introduction of stops at Tottenham Hale which is an important interchange to the Victoria Line, and also one of our key recruitment areas in North London.
“Nearly 50% of our passengers already choose sustainable modes of transport when travelling to and from the airport, and this very welcome boost in coach frequency by National Express will further help cement London Stansted’s leading position as the UK’s best performing airport for public transport use by passengers.”
The operator says it saw a 25% increase in customers turning to National Express last year, with over 19 million customers travelling on its coach network during 2023, up from 15 million in 2022.
