Richard Walter reports on the multi-coloured variety in Glasgow, as buses from around the country stand in for the city’s defective BYD ADL electrics
Glasgow has recently become a very colourful place for buses in recent weeks. A structural issue was identified on some BYD ADL Enviro200EV electric buses belonging to First Bus which were built in 2021. The affected vehicles have been temporarily removed from service as a precaution and to allow Alexander Dennis, along with BYD as the relevant component manufacturer, to develop a rectification which will be applied to all affected vehicles. In the meantime a number of buses have been borrowed from other First Bus operators. Some are in traditional First livery but many are route branded for services in their local areas, making for an unusual sight in Glasgow.
