£5m investment in 22 vehicles marks the latest development in the Rotherham Bus Partnership
A total of 22 new vehicles have been unveiled in Rotherham following a £5m investment by First South Yorkshire.
The new double-decker, Wrightbus StreetDeck vehicles were launched at an event on Effingham Square by Rotherham Council’s Advisory Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, Cllr Denise Lelliott.
As well as a special livery and new internal look, all the buses are fitted with eco-leather seating and come with USB charging points. The new buses are all Department for Transport low carbon certified and are fitted with Euro 6 engines.
The new vehicles are part of an ongoing investment commitment by First South Yorkshire as part of the Rotherham Bus Partnership. The partnership is delivering improvements in customer service and value-for-money to help attract more people onto public transport. The new buses operate on the Sheffield – Rotherham – Doncaster X78 route.

These new vehicles are among the best and most eco-friendly in South Yorkshire.
“Passengers can enjoy pleasant, more comfortable journeys and keep connected on the move with new USB charging points, while supporting the efforts of our local authority partners to improve air quality for all.”
Rotherham Council’s Advisory Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, Cllr Denise Lelliott, said: “These buses are a real boost for Rotherham. First South Yorkshire’s vehicle investment not only provides greener and more comfortable bus services, it makes travelling by public transport an exciting prospect.
