A Mercedes-Benz Sprinter from Mellor has been commissioned by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to carry passengers to and from the Adult Day Centre and various day trips arranged by the council.
Kyle Phillips, Group Manager – Transport Services for Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “Mellor won the tender for our new vehicle based on meeting our bespoke specifications at a competitive price. The vehicle has been allocated to a variety of council-led programmes and excursions for some of the more senior members of the community.
“We transport a number of frail customers with wheelchairs and mobility issues, so the requirement for a smooth, comfortable ride was of paramount importance for their needs.
“The feedback we have been getting from our drivers and passengers has been very favourable.”
The Mercedes Sprinter-based vehicle has 16 detachable Rescroft CT Lite seats and can provide access for up to six wheelchairs if required.
The minibus is specified with reverse sonar in combination with a bilingual reverse bleeper, an underfloor Ratcliff lift and Eberspächer climate control system.
National Sales Manager for Mellor, Stephen Haywood, added: “We are a popular solution for council contracts where the need for versatile and flexible seating arrangement options is vital.
“Our vehicles can be modified to meet the customers’ needs which is a huge benefit and allows us to offer the best solution for any situation.”
