The 23rd annual UK Bus Awards contest has officially begun, with entries now open until early June. Nominations are invited to compete for 21 awards.

The organisers said they have made no changes to the scheme, meaning last year’s new categories, for Leadership and Inspiration and for Innovation in Road Safety, remain in place.

Mark Yexley, UK Bus Awards Chairman, said: “We were delighted with the reception that the Leadership and Inspiration Award received last year, and it can take its place alongside our other awards for people working in the industry. These are a vital part of our work.

“With rapid accelerating social and economic change affecting all our businesses, it is vital for the industry to meet and even exceed customer expectations. Our use of technology is vital in delivering that customer experience, so we’re looking forward to reading about new approaches and new technology in our New Horizons Award.”

Mark said that there would be no specific category for local authorities again, but emphasised that entries from authorities would once again be welcomed and encouraged.

Key dates for the awards in 2018 include a closing date for entries of Friday, June 8, a finalists’ announcement on October 10, with the annual presentation ceremony being set for lunchtime on Tuesday, November 20, at Troxy in East London.
