CNH Industrial’s large contract for the State of Minas Gerais in south-east Brazil has started to be delivered with the arrival of the first batch of vehicles to the city of Patos de Minas, in the region of Triângulo Mineiro.
The order totals 900 school buses which are a mix of CityClass, WayClass and SoulClass minibuses based on Iveco 70C17 chassis cowls and SeniorClass midibuses on the 150S21 chassis. They are equipped with a special mobile armchair device launched by Iveco in 2016 that positions a seat outside the vehicle, enabling passengers with special needs to board and disembark.
The vehicles negotiated with the Government of Minas Gerais are designed to operate in urban and rural environments while maintaining comfort and safety on board, says the manufacturer. “The concept of the project is based on accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility and benefits for the operator, a solution obtained through the innovative Mobile Armchair Device,” said Humberto Spinetti, Iveco Bus Director for Latin America. “Our vehicles contribute to the students’ ability to travel comfortably and in an inclusive manner. This allows for greater transportation capacity for the cities as well as an economically efficient solution. We have the technology and, above all, the desire to collaborate for a fair and more efficient transportation.”
