Calling all cyclists in the bus and coach industry
Ready and waiting: John Johnson publicises the charity ride

Bike riders from all over the coach and bus industry are being invited to join a cycling event on Sunday October 2.

The ‘Cat and Fiddle Challenge’ has been promoted by “keen bikers” John Johnson of Johnsons Coaches and Karl Moseley of Moseley PCV.

“The idea was that we wanted to organise a day ride for the industry and then decided that joining an existing organised ride would be better and would give us a chance to raise some money for a charity,” said John.

“So we chose ‘The Cat and Fiddle Challenge’ because its about the right distance – about 55 miles; it’s a good challenge – it includes the infamous 7 mile Cat and Fiddle climb; the date should suit most operators and industry events; and because the location is ideal. The route includes great scenery as it passes through Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park and entry is only £15 and then every penny we raise goes directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.”

Karl added: “We’ll be starting at 1000hrs and the ride will take between four and six hours to complete, depending on fitness. All industry men and ladies are invited to join us on the ride but note this is a hilly sportive – it’s not recommended for absolute beginners!

“You can ride it for fun or you can ride it to win. We might even have a few un-official awards at the end, just to make it more fun. And if companies want to, they can even supply their ‘team’ with their own team shirts!”
