Southampton bus history to be recreated on 19 July. NICK LARKIN

A hundred years of regular motorbus operation in Southampton is being celebrated by the independent operator which runs a service over the city’s first ever route today.

Xelabus, which operates the X11 route from Southampton City Centre to Lordshill, is to operate several historic Southampton buses between the Civic Centre and Winchester Road on 19 July, from 1000hrs to 1600hrs. It’s hoped a Guy Arab and an AEC Regent will be among the line-up as well as a Leyland Atlantean with East Lancs bodywork.
