CVE Omni goes for preservation

The last complete example of a pioneering low-floor minibus has passed into preservation after 29 years with a Sussex operator, reports Nick Larkin

Empress Coaches bought CVE Omni H389KPY new in 1990 and has operated it ever since. Now the rare vehicle has been sold to Graeme Scarlett, who runs The Eden in County Durham, near where it originated. The Omni was built by City Vehicle Engineering at Shildon under licence from Steyr of Austria, with production beginning in 1988.
