Stagecoach West is currently taking delivery of 14 new Alexander Dennis Enviro200s and to celebrate, the company has launched a competition to name the new buses which will be serving the local community.

Inspired by The National Environment Research Council’s £200m research ship, which was voted to be named ‘Boaty McBoatface’ in a nation-wide public poll, the company is inviting customers to submit their suggestions for the new buses’ names via the Stagecoach West website or Twitter page before 31 December. Nominations will then be whittled down to a shortlist, with the public able to vote for their favourites before the official names are announced in January.

Rupert Cox, Managing Director of Stagecoach West, said: “The introduction of 14 brand new buses to our fleet marks our commitment to providing passengers with the best travel experience possible and we are confident that our customers will benefit hugely from the new additions.

“As the new fleet will be serving the community, it was only fitting that we should give our passengers the opportunity to name the new vehicles. We invite all of our customers to get their thinking caps on and send us their most creative suggestions over the coming weeks. We can’t wait to read everyone’s nominations.”

The new buses will replace 14 of the company’s older vehicles as Stagecoach West continues to provide customers with the most comfortable and modern buses available in the UK for all their journeys.

All 14 of the buses will also include USB charging points and next stop announcements which are designed to sound before the bus reaches each stop, reflecting the company’s commitment to making its services accessible to all passengers.

The Euro VI vehicles are also manufactured with a start/stop engine to improve fuel consumption. Five of the ADL Enviro200s have already entered service at Cheltenham Depot.
